Overview

This standard is about developing and evaluating HR policies for your organisation. It includes designing the policies in accordance with organisational strategy, people-centric Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), legal and ethical requirements, agreeing policies with stakeholders and evaluating policies against agreed success criteria.

This standard is for HR professionals who are involved in the development and evaluation of HR policies.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. collate all existing policies and evaluate them against organisational needs and objectives
  2. identify the factors which indicate the need to review the policies
  3. assess the impact of the policies on organisational structures, employees, customers and end users
  4. design HR policies in accordance with the relevant strategies and ethical requirements
  5. align the policies with all legal requirements, codes of practice and align with people-centric KPIs
  6. consult with key stakeholders to agree or amend the policies
  7. communicate plans for the policies across the whole organisation
  8. work within the agreed budgets and timescales
  9. define and agree the success criteria for evaluation of HR policies
  10. establish when the policies will be evaluated and reviewed
  11. monitor continued compliance with legal, ethical requirements and codes of practice
  12. develop training and development plan in accordance with organisational requirements
  13. collect valid and comprehensive data, including feedback from stakeholders
  14. evaluate the policies against the agreed success criteria
  15. make recommendations to amend or maintain the policies

  2. the sectors in which your organisation operates and the market factors impacting on its performance
  3. the sources of specialist information and expertise and how to access it
  4. how human resource levers drive organisational performance
  5. how to identify and assess trends, influences and other factors driving changes in policies
  6. the legal, ethical requirements and codes of practice
  7. how to assess and mitigate the risks of introducing changes to policies
  8. the key factors that influence the design of policies
  9. your organisation’s people-centric KPIs
  10. how to develop policies that will govern and guide organisational performance
  11. how to align policies with your organisation’s goals and objectives
  12. how to identify the costs and benefits of developing policies
  13. the aspects of the policies that are likely to meet with objections and methods to resolve these
  14. how to identify and involve key stakeholders
  15. the methods of stakeholder management and engagement
  16. how to summarise and present information and proposals to decision-makers
  17. how to select and apply appropriate data collection and analysis techniques
  18. how to evaluate quantitative and qualitative information against the agreed success criteria
  19. how to summarise and present data in accordance with legislative requirements
  20. the recommendations for amending or maintaining the policies
  21. the principles of agility, continuous improvement and business partnering needs
  22. the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) practices
  23. the relevant data protection regulation
