Overview
This standard is about developing and agreeing an HR strategy. It includes evaluating existing strategies against organisational needs and ensuring that the HR strategy is aligned with organisational culture and objectives. An HR strategy should also take account of external and internal factors, how employees are being hired, managed and developed in line with organisational goals.
This standard is for HR professionals who are involved in the development of HR strategy.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- collate and evaluate all strategies and align them with organisational values and behaviours
- identify organisational needs and objectives in relation to HR strategy
- carry out Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis
- specify timescales for the development and approval of the HR strategy
- define the HR mission statement in terms of organisational purpose and strategic direction
- implement external, internal factors and organisational culture into the HR strategy
- analyse and evaluate employees’ skillset
- conduct a gap analysis
- elaborate relevant practices for talent management and development
- define acquisition tactics to attract and retain talent
- comply with all relevant legal requirements, codes of practice and organisational procedures
- consult with key stakeholders in the organisation to agree the strategy
- review the HR strategy on a regular basis to comply with relevant legislation and codes of practice
