Overview

This standard covers the skills and knowledge needed for you to manage task handovers in food and drink manufacture and the associated supply chain.

Shift changes are a critical time in a production environment. Changes in staff need to be carried out quickly and efficiently, minimising downtime. Managing the handover of tasks must be carried out adhering to organisational standards and compliance requirements. You must know how and be able to prepare to manage task handovers including ensuring the availability of staffing, resources and materials. You must also be able to ensure documentation relating to task handovers is completed, resolve problems and challenges and evaluate the task handover procedures, suggesting improvements where possible. Complying with and understanding health and safety, food safety, environmental and organisational requirements are essential features of this standard.
