Improve production performance in food and drink operations
Overview
This standard covers the skills and knowledge needed for you to improve production performance in food and drink operations and the associated supply chain.
Performance includes productivity and the ability to make food products that adhere to organisational, regulatory and customer quality and compliance requirements. You must know how and be able to agree objectives for and implement an improvement programme. You must also know how and be able to report to colleagues the outcomes of the improvements. Complying with and understanding health and safety, food safety, environmental and organisational requirements are essential features of this standard.
This standard is for you if you work in food and drink manufacture and/or supply operations and are involved in improving production performance in food operations.

1. the organisational methods of communication and how to use them including any restrictions and limits of access
2. how to source outcomes of evaluations relating to the effectiveness of current process and performance
3. how to implement lean management principles
4. how to recommend improvements and to construct an effective case for change
5. the organisational requirements to be adhered to when planning and implementing improvement strategies
6. why it is important to plan improvement strategies
7. how to co-ordinate the activities needed to implement improvement activities
8. why it is important to gain agreement from colleagues on the improvement plan
9. how to motivate colleagues to be committed to change and improvements
10. why it is important to recognise the broader implications of change and how to do this
11. why it is important to monitor change and its effects on process, performance, people and the wider business
12. how to report on successes and failures of improvement plans
13. why it is important to act upon improvement successes and failures
14. what the organisational procedures to be followed are if improvements are at odds with organisational strategy, objectives, policies and planning
