Manage production policy and procedures in food and drink operations
Overview
This standard is about the skills and knowledge needed for you to manage production policy and procedures in food and drink operations and the associated supply chain.
It is good management practice to check the systems and procedures relating to a policy or functional area within a food business to help determine if a full review is needed. Assessing the systems, procedures and your own effectiveness in relation to a particular policy or area is a key management skill. This skill can be applied to the assessment of the systems and procedures around problem diagnosis, downtime reduction or specific functional areas such as product development or distribution. You must know how to gather information and/or data relating to the evaluation of the policy or procedure. You must also know how to regularly review and evaluate evidence, liaise with colleagues, determine if the policy or procedure is fit for purpose and make recommendations for any further action. Complying with and understanding health and safety, food safety, environmental and organisational requirements are essential features of this standard.
