Overview
This standard covers the skills and knowledge required to control glass processing operations. While not necessarily a supervision role, it covers monitoring what is happening during processing and ensuring that any problems are identified with the equipment or with working practices.
It also covers providing advice and guidance to others on what to do in a variety of routine and non-routine situations.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
- comply with health and safety requirements and procedures at all times
- monitor the use of materials and identify any variations from specifications
- monitor operating conditions of processing equipment and identify any variations from specifications
- inspect equipment regularly and identify any malfunctions and obstructions following standard operating procedures
- confirm equipment is operated following standard operating procedures
- identify any problems and deal with them following standard operating procedures
- record information in the appropriate information systems
- monitor actions of colleagues to determine whether they need assistance
- provide clear instructions on the use of equipment
- instruct on the use of equipment following standard operating procedures
- assist colleagues with information on operations following standard operating procedures
- identify good practice in operations
- provide realistic recommendations on potential improvements for operations
