"This standard is about preparing and utilising provision of fall protection systems, interpreting information, adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work practices, selecting and using materials, components, tools and equipment
This standard is for people working in the occupational areas of Scaffolding, Staging and Rigging, Construction and Building Trades and Engineering Technicians and can be used by operatives, supervisors and managers"

You must be able to:

"Performance Criteria 1
1      interpret plans, drawings and sketches,  specifications,
        schedules, method statements, risk assessments and
        manufacturers' information and users' instructions related to
        the work to be carried out
Performance Criteria 2
2      avoid risk by complying with the given information
        relating to the following:
        2.1      methods of work
        2.2      safe use of health and safety control equipment
        2.3      safe use of access equipment
        2.4      safe use, storage and handling of materials, tools and
                   equipment 
        2.5      specific risks to health
Performance Criteria 3
3      select resources associated with own work:
        3.1      materials and components
        3.2      tools and equipment
Performance Criteria 4
4      protect the work and its surrounding area from damage
5      maintain a clear and tidy workspace
6      dispose of waste in accordance with current legislation

7      demonstrate work skills to wear, attach, set out, position,
        secure, check and remove
8      use and maintain hand tools and fall protection systems and
        equipment
9      employ and utilise fall protection systems and equipment to
        given working instructions, using recognised anchor points, for
        at least two of the following:
        9.1     scaffold and/or rigging
        9.2     secured steelwork structures
        9.3     wire and rope systems
        9.4     permanently installed anchorage points
        9.5     temporary anchorage points
        9.6     track systems
        9.7     proprietary systems

6    operative's responsibilities regarding potential accidents and
      health hazards and the environment whilst working in the
      workplace, below ground level, in confined spaces, at height,
      with tools and equipment, with materials and substances, with
      movement and storage of materials by manual handling
      and mechanical lifting

      protection systems and equipment

                 for security, safety and operational movement

                 protection equipment (inertia reels, eyebolts and anchor
