Overview

This standard is about installing rainscreen façade systems to previously prepared and inspected backing walls. This will involve the setting out and fixing of the helping hand brackets, carrier system and any sub-grid required to line and level, adjusting and cutting to fit prior to securing into position including any vapour barriers/breather membranes, insulation and cavity barriers in accordance with the rainscreen façade system design and specification                                                                                                                    
 
This standard will also involve interpreting information, adopting safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work practices, selecting and using materials, components, tools and equipment, minimising damage and working within the allocated time, in accordance with organisational requirements which are equal to or exceed current statutory and legislative requirements

This standard is for people working in the occupational area of rainscreen façade systems and can be used by operatives, supervisors and managers


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

Interpretation of information
P1 interpret the information relating to the work and resources to confirm its relevance for the following:
·         drawings
·         specifications
·         schedules
·         risk assessments
·         method statements
·         manufacturers' information
·         fixing strategy

Safe work practices
P2 comply with the relevant legislation and official guidance to carry out the work and maintain safe and healthy work practices relating to the following:
·         methods of work

·         safe use of access equipment
·         safe use, delivery, storage and handling of materials, tools and associated equipment
·         specific risks to physical and mental health
·         specific risk associated with asbestos containing materials

Selection of resources

Meet the contract specification
P5
comply with the contract information to install rainscreen façade systems to the required specification by:
·       demonstrating work skills to:
-       identify location of attachment points
-       set out and work to gridlines and datum marks
-       position and install helping hand brackets and spacer systems, drips, cover strips, fasteners and fittings
-       adjust helping hand brackets
-       cut and form internal and external angles
-       line and level the carrier system  
-       fit components around protrusions, penetrations, apertures and reveals
position and secure flashings and vents
-       secure and install rainscreen façade system materials to the carrier system 
·       using and maintaining hand and power tools, levelling instruments and equipment
·       check and record quality, setting out and accuracy of work on completion, at a hold point and at the end of each working period
·       installing the complete rainscreen façade system in accordance with the design
