Overview

This standard is about developing and maintaining working relationships in construction contracting operations management, gaining the trust and support of colleagues, those to whom you report and people who benefit from your work. It is also about ensuring that all contracts are legal and conform to ethical and social standards of behaviour and good practice
This standard is for people working in the occupational area of construction contracting operations management and can be used by operatives, supervisors and managers


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

Develop and maintain working relationships P1 develop and maintain working relationships with people which promote goodwill and trust P2 provide people sufficient information and time to complete work activities to an appropriate level of detail and with an appropriate degree of urgency P3 resolve conflicts and differences of opinion in ways which minimise offence and maintain goodwill, trust and respect P4 provide guidance and help to people about work activities with sensitivity and encourage questions, requests for clarification and comments P5 present proposals for action clearly to people at an appropriate time and with the right level of detail for the degree of change, expenditure and risk involved P6 identify the hazards in the workplace arising from construction work products, processes and equipment Practice in an ethical manner P7 take clear responsibility for your own decisions and ownership of the decisions by others in your organisation P8 establish a system of communication to report instances of unethical behaviour which encourages responsibility and empowerment at all levels
P9 recognise the limits of your competence and authority and work within them
P10 distribute information obtained from stakeholders only to those who have a legitimate right to receive it
P11 confirm that formal and informal contracts and agreements conform to legal requirements, ethical standards, social procedures and industry approved guidance in relation to:
11.1 identifying areas of non-compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social procedures
11.2 examining reasons for non-compliance with procedures
11.3 making recommendations for corrections to
ensure compliance with procedures
P12 communicate in a style and manner which maintains professional independence and maximises goodwill and trust P13 manage systems to indemnify parties where the advice given results in loss or damage P14 promote a culture of honesty and equity with people, identify areas of weakness and recommend or implement improvements
