This standard is about ensuring compliance with the legal and other non-regulatory requirements that underpin sustainable business practice. Compliance must apply to all the legal and non-regulatory requirements associated with the social, economic and environmental principles of sustainability.
The role described by this standard requires that there is a clear understanding of the areas of compliance that an organisation has to meet. It requires that current compliance levels are determined together with the processes that are necessary to ensure on-going future compliance.
Finally, it requires the development and implementation of the controls necessary to establish and maintain future compliance with legal and other non-regulatory requirements related to sustainable business practice. The ability to correct non-compliance is essential to the standard.
