Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines
P2 assess work methods and procedures for their suitability and technical feasibility
P3 anticipate potential problems and choose which action to take to deal with them
P4 provide colleagues with valid and up-to-date information, advice and guidance as necessary
P5 analyse problems in full and choose effective solutions that will maintain the quality and progress of the work

You need to know and understand:

K1 health and safety legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures
K2 planning methods and techniques
K3 how to identify and solve problems
K4 how to present information
K5 how to specify procedures and guidelines
K6 radiation and contamination control procedures
K7 the types, methods and use of PPE
K8 the principles and application of ALARP
K9 movement of contaminated radioactive material
K10 the measurement and control of radioactive doses
K11 Reporting lines and procedures
