This standard covers the competence required to position and assemble equipment to aid nuclear decommissioning by working within detailed specifications and clearly defined procedures.
This standard deals with the following:

During this work you must take account of the relevant worksite operational requirements, procedures and safe working practices AS THEY APPLY TO YOU.
The activity is likely to be undertaken by someone working in a Nuclear Decommissioning environment.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines
P2 determine the task and how this will be achieved while meeting the requirements of the organisation and manufacturer's specifications for the equipment being used
P3 select the appropriate equipment and check that it is in a usable condition
P4 position and secure the equipment in line with the organisation’s and manufacturer's specifications
P5 securely fix any necessary temporary support facilities
P6 take appropriate measures to protect the finished assembled equipment
P7 deal promptly and effectively with problems within your control and report those that cannot be solved
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1 health and safety legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures
K2 the potential hazards to others while positioning equipment
K3 types and application of equipment
K4 types of assembly, installation methods and techniques used
K5 methods of providing temporary support during installations
K6 tool and equipment care and control procedures
K7 reporting lines and procedures

Equipment
1 Equipment including tents, re-usable containment, mobile filtration units, pre- formed system scaffolding and work platforms
2 Individual elements to be positioned including tent frames, containment panels, filtration units and system scaffold components
3 Assemblies of elements including tent structures, ventilation systems, shielding walls/structures and scaffolds
4 Temporary support structures including system scaffolding, lifting frames, hoists and temporary stairways
