Prepare plant and equipment to use a hydrogen product
Overview
This standard identifies the competencies you need to prepare plant and equipment that will be using a hydrogen product to run plant and equipment.
You will inspect and prepare the work area, set up appropriate plant, equipment, and operating conditions, and complete pre-quality checks on the plant and equipment to use the hydrogen product before start-up.
This could include individuals working in the following industries: Chemical, Petrochemicals, Storage and Energy production, and industries where hydrogen is used as a fuel or power source.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1. use all safety equipment when preparing plant and equipment using hydrogen product in line with organisational and legal requirements
P2. follow the standard operating procedures (SOP's) for the hydrogen usage plant and equipment in line with organisational and legal requirements
P3. confirm quality procedures and monitoring methods for the hydrogen product, plant and equipment in line with organisational requirements
P4. obtain accurate information on hydrogen product, plant and equipment from valid sources in line with organisational and legal requirements
P5. assess the quality and suitability of the hydrogen product for intended use in line with organisational quality assurance requirements, reporting any defects in line organisational requirements.
P6. complete quality and inspection documentation in line with organisational and legal requirements
P7. recommend improvements to quality and inspection procedures in line with organisational requirements
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1. safety regulations related to hydrogen usage plant and equipment to meet the organisational and legal requirements
K2. the standard operating procedures, relating to hydrogen usage in line with organisational and legal requirements
K3. the organisational procedures and quality standards when using hydrogen product in plant and equipment.
K4. how to communicate effectively with stakeholders within and outside the company to meet organisational, customer and legal requirements
K5. the range of quality tools, performance measurements and monitoring techniques which can be used to monitor quality and performance in line with organisational requirements
K6. the requirements for completing documentation and records relating to the preparation of plant, equipment and working environments to meet organisational and legal requirements
