This standard identifies the competencies you need to load hydrogen product in-line with operational and regulatory requirements.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can load hydrogen products, undertake safe working practices, and adhere to procedures during the loading operations, meeting organisational and legal requirements.
This could include individuals working in the following industries, Chemical, Petro-Chemicals, Storage and Energy production.
Please Note:
For the purpose of this Standard, a Road Tanker is defined as a specialised transport vehicle designed for the safe and efficient transportation of large quantities of hydrogen, typically in its liquid or compressed gaseous state. These tankers are essential for the distribution of hydrogen to refuelling stations, industries, and other consumers who require hydrogen as an energy source or for various applications.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1. follow regulations and guidelines for hydrogen loading, including health and safety requirements
P2. wear the correct Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) to meet organisational and legal requirements
P3. assess and report any health condition likely to affect driving as detailed in the current version of the Highway Code and organisational regulations
P4. receive loading instructions, including destinations and volumes
P5. load hydrogen products safely in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements
P6. communicate with other site personnel to maintain a safe work environment during loading operations
P7. use the appropriate equipment and procedures to load hydrogen products in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements
P8. assess and respond to any potential hazards or incidents during the loading process
P9. complete shut-down procedure in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements
P10. display the correct placarding and marking for hydrogen products during transportation
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1. health conditions likely to affect driving as detailed in the current version of the Highway Code and organisational regulations
K2. the importance of observing the rules and regulations relevant to working from heights
K3. the organisational requirements relating to correct communication and reporting of information relating to their site.
K4. the types of loading instructions, destinations and volumes
K5. the company procedures in relation to pre-plans and other documentation relating to hazards en-route
K6. the organisational and legal requirements relating to the transportation of hydrogen products
K7. the organisational and legal security requirements
K8. the organisational and legal Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
K9. the organisational and legal regulations and guidelines for hydrogen transportation, including the current version of the Highway Code or equivalent
K10. the loading site emergency procedures and site induction requirements
