Overview
This standard identifies the competencies you need to undertake pre-load hydrogen road tanker inspection. Ensuring that the loads are suitable and safe prior to transportation.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can undertake pre-load hydrogen road tanker inspection; you will inspect the road tanker and equipment, display appropriate making and placarding, meeting organisational and legal requirements.
This could include individuals working in the following industries, Chemical, Petro-Chemicals, Storage and Energy production.
Please Note:
For the purpose of this Standard, a Road Tanker is defined as a specialised transport vehicle designed for the safe and efficient transportation of large quantities of hydrogen, typically in its liquid or compressed gaseous state. These tankers are essential for the distribution of hydrogen to refuelling stations, industries, and other consumers who require hydrogen as an energy source or for various applications.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1. assess and report any health condition likely to affect driving as detailed in the current version of the Highway Code
P2. wear the correct Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) to meet organisational and legal requirements
P3. communicate with all participants in the loading process to ensure that all necessary information is exchanged and acted upon, including loading instructions, destinations and volumes
P4. conduct a visual inspection of the loading area to ensure it is suitable and safe for hydrogen transport
P5. evaluate and confirm the compatibility of the road tanker and consignment being loaded to ensure safe transport
P6. identify and assess potential hazards related to the compatibility of the road tanker and consignment
P7. inspect the hydrogen road tanker, safety equipment, and associated equipment, including checking for physical damage, leaks, or other signs of malfunction, in accordance with company policy and legislative requirements
P8. display the correct marking and placarding on the road tanker
P9. complete pre-load inspection documentation and report any defects in line with organisational and legal requirements
P10. take corrective action to address or report issues found in pre-load inspection in line with organisational and legal requirements
