Store hydrogen products safely
Overview
This standard identifies the competencies you need to store hydrogen products safely.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can obtain work permits to undertake inspections, safety checks to store hydrogen products safely, recording, and documenting these in line with organisational and legal requirements.
This could include individuals working in the following industries, Chemical, Petro-Chemicals, Storage and Energy production.

This Standard now covers large and small-scale storage of Hydrogen Products.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1. use all necessary safety equipment in line with organisational and legal requirements
P2. obtain the necessary work permits, clearances, and isolation permissions before entering the work area, in line with organisational and legal requirements
P3. plan site storage operations in line with organisational and legal requirements
P4. prepare and maintain storage site in line with organisational and legal requirements
P5. manage and maintain hydrogen storage conditions in line with organisational and legal requirements
P6. carry out storage inspection and safety checks on storage facilities in line with organisational and legal requirements
P7. confirm and record the equipment's status during storage in line with organisational and legal requirements
P8. report any abnormal conditions in line with organisational and legal requirements
P9. restore the abnormal hydrogen storage conditions in line with organisational and legal requirements
P10. document any defects or non-conformity in line with organisational and legal requirements
P11. communicate relevant information to stakeholders where appropriate to ensure work is prioritised and sequenced for completion in line with organisational requirements
P12. recognise and understand alarm codes, signage and other hazard warnings and react accordingly in line with organisational and legal requirements
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1. the safety equipment necessary for safe hydrogen production, including personal protective equipment (PPE), alarms, and monitoring
K2. the requirements for work area access, isolation permissions, working with gases, fire protection and extinguishing requirements for a hydrogen production environment to meet organisational and legal requirements
K3. the different storage options for a range of hydrogen products
K4. how to plan effectively for site storage operations taking account of all systems and assets to meet organisational and legal requirements
K5. the operational requirements to manage and maintain storage conditions for a range of hydrogen products
K6. the principles of stock rotation applied to a hydrogen storage facility
K7. how to maintain site storage to meet organisational and legal requirements
K8. the organisational and legal requirements for quality and safety checks on storage facilities to meet organisational and legal requirements
K9. how to complete storage inspection and the associated documentation to meet organisational and legal requirements
K10. how to complete records, reports and documentation for Hydrogen storage to meet organisational and legal requirements
K11. process for reporting abnormal conditions to meet organisational and legal
K12. how to take appropriate action to restore storage equipment to standard operating conditions to meet organisational and legal
K13. how to complete work documentation for hydrogen storage operations to meet organisational and legal requirements
K14. how to communicate information to the appropriate stakeholders within and outside the organisation
K15. the meaning of all relevant alarm codes, signage and other hazard warnings and how to react to them whilst conducting site storage operations
