Overview

This standard identifies the competencies you need to assess and maintain hydrogen production plant and equipment. 

 

You will follow maintenance procedures, instructions and schedules, performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, checking, and replacing parts in line with organisational requirements. 

This could include individuals working in the following industries, Chemical, Petro-Chemicals, Storage and Energy production.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1. use all necessary safety equipment, in line with organisational and legal requirements

P2. obtain the necessary work permits, clearances, and isolation permissions before entering the work area, in line with organisational and legal requirements 
P3. follow procedures, instructions, and schedules for maintenance activities in line with organisational requirements
P4. select suitable materials, tools, equipment, and devices to perform the maintenance work in line with organisational requirements
P5. perform routine maintenance tasks in line with organisational requirements
P6. take corrective action when discovering defective conditions or equipment in line with organisational and manufacturer 
P7. adjust equipment and plant to restore operating conditions in line with organisational requirements        
P8. conduct quality and safety checks of the maintenance work in line with organisational and manufacturer requirements 
P9. complete documentation for maintenance activities in line with organisational and legal requirements
P10. communicate with all personnel affected by the maintenance activities, notifying them that the work is complete in line with organisational requirements
P11. report hazards that emerge during maintenance work in line with organisational and legal requirements


Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

K1. the safety equipment necessary for safe hydrogen production, including personal protective equipment (PPE), alarms, and monitoring devices
K2. the requirements for work area access, isolation permissions, working with gases, fire protection and extinguishing requirements for a hydrogen production environment to meet organisational and legal requirements
K3. how to plan a maintenance schedule for the specified equipment and plant to meet organisational 
K4. where to find information, including organisational and manufacturer guidance
K5. where to obtain information for selecting suitable materials, tools, equipment, and devices to perform maintenance in line with organisational requirements
K6. how to carry out maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, checking, and replacing parts in line with organisational requirements
K7. the procedure for taking corrective action when discovering defective conditions, materials, or equipment                     
K8. how to check the status and where to find the information for the equipment's correct operating conditions in line with organisational requirements  
K9. how to conduct quality and safety checks of the maintenance work in line with manufacturers and workplace 
K10. the requirements and documentation for maintenance work to meet organisational requirements
K11. the communication requirements for maintenance work to meet organisational requirements
K12. the procedures for reporting and recording hazards that may arise during maintenance activities to meet organisational and legal requirements
