Overview

This standard identifies the competencies you need to prepare to produce hydrogen product.



You will inspect and prepare the hydrogen production area, setting up appropriate production methods and operating conditions and complete pre-production quality checks.

This could include individuals working in the following industries, Chemical, Petro-Chemicals, Storage and Energy production.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1. use all necessary safety equipment, in line with organisational and legal requirements 
P2.  follow the standard operating procedures (SOPS) for the production process
P3. confirm quality criteria for the product and process in line with organisational requirements
P4. Identify suitable quality assurance methods and procedures
P5. apply the quality assurance methods and procedures meeting organisational and customer requirements
P6. obtain accurate information from valid sources on the product and process being quality assured
P7. specify clearly the required quality of  the product and process 
P8. assess accurately and realistically the quality of the product and process meeting organisation requirements 
P9. meet organisational requirements on recording and completing documentation on the quality  assurance process 
P10. recommend improvements to quality to the appropriate people in line with organisational requirements


Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

K1. safety regulations related to production to meet the organisational and legal requirements of hydrogen production
K2. the organisational standard operating procedures, relating to quality assurance methods and procedures 
K3. the organisational and legal quality standards affecting products, services and processes    
K4. the work processes, control systems and working environments within the organisation and how to ensure these are appropriate           
K5. quality assurance and management systems and principles and best practices
K6. the principles and processes of effective communication and how to apply them to provide clear and relevant advice              
K7. the purpose and benefits of assessing and documenting information and how it contributes to quality and process optimisation
K8. the range of systems of control and how to develop appropriate systems                    
K9. the range of performance measures, quality tools and techniques which could be used    
K10. the importance of implementation plans and how to develop them                                   
K11. the principle types of monitoring procedures and how to develop them                            
K12. the organisation's quality standards and current methods for measuring performance        
K13. measurement techniques and methodologies.
K14. the methods and frequency of data collection, analysis and recording
K15. how to use statistical software and tools to analyse data and identify trends
K16. the requirements for documentation and records relating to processes and working environments to meet organisational and legal quality requirements                           
K17. to evaluate reports from auditors and other sources and make recommendations
