Contribute to post-test tasks relating to explosive substances and/or articles
Overview
This standard exists in a test and evaluation role and covers the competences you need to contribute to post-test tasks relating to explosive substances and or articles.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can undertake post-test task to remediate the work environment, as directed, adhering to the relevant quality standards in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as test and evaluation and general explosives operators.
This standard replaces COGESA3.20.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guideline
P2 carry out post-test checks as directed
P3 use the equipment, consumables and services correctly during post-test tasks
P4 maintain the equipment in accordance with your organization’s procedures
P5 remediate the work environment as directed, segregate explosive substance and or article residues and products, in accordance with approved processes.
P6 recover, return and report faulty equipment, in accordance with your organization’s procedures and or the manufacturer’s instructions
P7 report data and information as directed
P8 dispose of the process residues and products within the limits of your responsibility
P9 adhere to the relevant quality standards
P10 deal with any problems within your level of authority
P11 report problems beyond your level of authority to the appropriate person
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations, safe working practices and procedures governing explosives and their implications for your area of work
K2 the relevance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
K3 the nature, characteristics, hazards and risks of the explosive substance and or article
K4 the actions to be taken in response to an unplanned event
K5 the test plan and procedures and your role in them
K6 the roles and responsibilities of team members
K7 the requirements of the post-test tasks
K8 how to collect and segregate residues and products
K9 the condition in which the site must be left
K10 the equipment, consumables and services needed to complete post-test tasks
K11 how to recover, return, and report faults in the test equipment
K12 how to use, maintain, and report faults in the test equipment
K13 how to consign residues and other products for disposal
K14 reporting lines and procedures
K15 the relevant quality standards and compliance regime
K16 your level of responsibility
