Design a new procedure for test and evaluation of explosive substances and/or articles
Overview
This standard exists within a test and evaluation role and covers the competences you need to design a new test and evaluation procedure for explosive substances and or articles.
You must demonstrate that you can confirm the requirements of the task and have designed a procedure that is fit for purpose. You will develop a safe system of work that addresses the impact of the hazards and risks associated with the procedure and understand the resources needed to carry out the task, in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as test and evaluation operators, supervisors and leaders (managers).
This standard replaces COGESA3.3 and COGESA3.4.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 confirm with the customer the requirement for the task to be carried out
P3 identify the information and factors relevant to the task
P4 confirm that there are no suitable existing procedure
P5 ensure that the procedure meets the customer’s requirement
P6 include organizational factors in addition to the customer’s requirements, that are likely to add value to the outline design
P7 obtain agreement through a peer and customer review
P8 design a procedure that is fit for purpose
P9 develop a safe system of work
P10 identify other potentially valuable outcomes that could be delivered concurrently
P11 adhere to the relevant quality standards
P12 document the agreed process, in the appropriate format
Knowledge and Understanding

K14 how to dispose of explosive substances and or articles residues arising from the task

K16 what might constitute value to your customer and/or your organization

K18 the relevant quality standards and compliance regime
K19 the impact of the hazards and risks associated with the procedure and conditions.
