Create the specification for the design of an explosive article
Overview
This standard exists within a research and development role and covers the competences you need to create the specification for the design of an explosive article in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can determine how best your team can respond to the requirements, in terms of workload and resources. Specifying the quality assurance requirements, referencing relevant regulations and standards in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as design managers and development managers.
This standard replaces COGESA1.19.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 ensure that the technical requirements are understood and specified
P3 check and obtain agreement that the requirements are interpreted correctly
P4 determine how best your team can respond to the requirements, in terms of workload and resources
P5 identify and prioritize the key aspects of the design specification
P6 specify the quality assurance requirements, referencing relevant regulations and standards
P7 record information in accordance with organizational requirements
P8 prepare and present specifications using the correct format
P9 maintain the requirements of confidentiality at all times
Knowledge and Understanding

K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures governing explosives, and their implications for your area of work
K2 the relevance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
