Develop a dissemination plan for explosive substances and/or articles
Overview
This standard exists within a research and development role and covers the competences you need to develop a dissemination plan for information on explosive substances and or articles in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
You will be required to demonstrate that you can ensure that the dissemination plan objectives are consistent with those of the research strategy, and with intellectual property rights ensuring that the dissemination plan meets regulatory requirements in accordance with approved procedures and practices.
This activity is likely to be undertaken by someone whose work role involves Ordnance, Munitions or Explosives work activities. This includes people working as research leaders, design mangers and development managers.
This standard replaces COGESA1.15.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 work safely at all times, complying with health and safety, environmental and other relevant regulations, legislation and guidelines
P2 define the dissemination plan containing specific, measurable and timely objectives
P3 ensure that the dissemination plan objectives are consistent with those of the research strategy, and with intellectual property rights
P4 ensure that the dissemination plan meets regulatory requirements
P5 ensure that your plans are achievable, within the allocated resources and specified timescale
P6 select dissemination methods that are capable of reaching your target audience
P7 obtain approval for your plan, in accordance with your organization’s procedures
Knowledge and Understanding
You need to know and understand:
K1 the health, safety and environmental and other statutory legislation, regulations and safe working practices and procedures governing explosives, and their implications for your area of work
K2 the research dissemination strategy
K3 the different dissemination methods, and their respective advantages and disadvantages
K4 regulatory requirements affecting the dissemination and publication of information
K5 the information needs of your target audience
K6 constraints relating to intellectual property
K7 planning techniques
K8 who may be affected by the dissemination plan, and in what way
K9 your own level of authority, and that of others with whom you work
K10 reporting lines
K11 the requirements of confidentiality
