Overview

This standard identifies the competencies and knowledge you need to prepare for and run a cell manufacturing process.
 
You will receive the appropriate instructions and information to select the required materials and equipment and safely start, monitor, and complete the cell manufacturing process. During the process, you will be responsible for complying with company procedures, adhering to all safety and environmental protocols, and reporting any problems with your role to the relevant people if you cannot resolve them personally.
 
This Standard is for individuals working in the lithium-ion and post lithium-ion battery manufacturing industries.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. check that you have the correct work instructions and relevant information for the cell assembly manufacturing process in line with organisational requirements
  2. use the required personnel protective equipment in line with organisational and legal requirements
  3. check you have the correct equipment for the task and that the equipment is safe and functional
  4. follow the work instructions to confirm the correct quantities of raw materials
  5. confirm the correct quantities of processed materials in line with work instructions
  6. start up the cell assembly manufacturing process
  7. monitor the cell assembly manufacturing process
  8. adjust the process to optimise production
  9. check the product meets the required organisational quality standards
  10. report any unspecified quality results to the appropriate person in line with organisational requirements
  11. shut down the process upon completion of the production run
  12. clean equipment in accordance with organisational and manufacturer requirements
  13. dispose of waste in accordance with company, environmental and legal requirements
  14. leave the work area in a safe condition on completion of the work activities in accordance with company requirements
  15. deal with problems, reporting any which you cannot solve
  16. work safely at all times in accordance with all relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines and organisational requirements
  17. complete any records and documentation in accordance with organisational and legal requirements

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. the use and importance of working instructions for cell assembly manufacturing
  2. the materials used in cell assembly manufacturing
  3. product specifications, health, safety and environmental considerations
  4. what personal protective equipment to use and why
  5. the functions and uses of the different types of equipment used in cell assembly manufacturing
  6. the different handling characteristics of materials and equipment
  7. the importance of checking equipment is ready and safe to use
  8. how to run a Human Machine Interface to start, monitor and adjust process parameters
  9. the importance of meeting quality specifications
  10. the methods of checking products to quality specifications
  11. reporting procedures for faults and problems in line with organisational requirements
  12. how to clean equipment safely
  13. how to dispose of waste in accordance to environmental regulations
  14. how to deal with typical problems
  15. what your responsibilities are in respect of Health, Safety, Emergency and Environment. This should include the limits of your personal responsibility, your legal responsibility for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others
  16. the hazards associated with cell manufacturing and how to minimise
  17. the data protection legislation, regulations, standards and workplace procedures relevant to you role
  18. the requirements for documentation and record keeping relating to manufacturing to meet organisational and legal quality requirements
