Overview

This Standard identifies the competencies you need to maintain plant and equipment in battery manufacturing.

You will follow maintenance procedures, instructions and schedules, performing routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, checking, fault finding and replacing parts in line with organisational requirements and policies.

This Standard is for individuals working in the lithium-ion and post-lithium-ion battery manufacturing industries who conduct a range of maintenance activities in accordance with the parameters of their organisation guidelines.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

  1. use the required personal protective equipment in line with organisation and legal requirements.
  2. obtain the necessary work permits, clearances, and isolation permissions before entering the work area, in line with organisational and legal requirements.
  3. follow standard operating procedures, manufacturer instructions, and schedules for maintenance activities in line with organisational requirements.
  4. select the required materials, tools, and equipment, to perform the maintenance activities in line with organisational requirements.
  5. perform routine maintenance and fault-finding activities in line with organisational requirements.
  6. take corrective action when discovering defective equipment or component in line with organisational and manufacturer requirements.
  7. adjust plant and equipment to restore operating conditions in line with organisational and manufacturer requirements.
  8. conduct quality and safety checks of the maintenance activities in line with organisational and manufacturer requirements.
  9. complete documentation for maintenance activities in line with organisational and legal requirements.
  10. communicate with all personnel affected by the maintenance activities, notifying them that the work is complete in line with organisational requirements
  11. report hazards and occurrences that emerge during maintenance activities in line with organisational and legal requirements.

Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

  1. what your responsibilities are in respect of Health, Safety and Environment. This should include the limits of your personal responsibility, your legal responsibility for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
  2. the procedures to obtain the necessary work permits, clearances, and isolation permissions before entering the work area, in line with organisational and legal requirements.
  3. where to access the required information, including organisational and manufacturer requirements in regard to Health, Safety, Emergency and Environment procedures.
  4. where to obtain information for selecting suitable materials, tools, equipment, and devices to perform maintenance activities in line with organisational requirements.
  5. how to carry out maintenance activities including cleaning, checking, fault finding and replacing parts in line with organisational requirements.
  6. the procedure for taking corrective action when discovering defective conditions in plant or equipment.
  7. where to access the required information, including organisational and manufacturer requirements in regard to equipment’s correct operating conditions.
  8. how to conduct quality and safety checks of the maintenance work in line with organisational and manufacturer requirements.
  9. the requirements for documentation and records relating to maintenance activities to meet organisational and legal quality requirements.
  10. the procedures for reporting and recording hazards that may arise during maintenance activities to meet organisational and legal requirements.
  11. the data protection legislation, regulations, standards and workplace procedures relevant to you role.
