Overview

This standard covers the competences you need to provide product control for bulk liquid operations


You will be required to demonstrate that you can take samples, measurement and perform calculations, blending and adding materials in accordance with authorised procedures.     

 

During this work you must take account of the relevant operational requirements and safe working practices AS THEY APPLY TO YOU.

The activity is likely to be undertaken by someone in petrochemical work setting, including individuals working in refineries, chemical plants and tank storage.


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1 obtain containers appropriate for the sample material
P2 select and use appropriate PPE
P3 accurately identify the location of the nearest safety equipment                                                   
P4 take samples using the appropriate specified method
P5 effectively minimise the potential hazards according to the nature of the sample
P6 ensure that the integrity of the sample is maintained
P7 ensure that the sample is fully identified by recording and labelling and promptly taken to the designated point
P8 correctly reinstate source conditions
P9 ensure that the measurement equipment is fit for purpose before and after use
P10 effectively maintain the integrity of the product and environmental conditions throughout
P11 correctly take and record measurements
P12 accurately perform all calculations
P13 accurately and fully investigate all unexpected results
P14 confirm that the correct quantities are available
P15 ensure that the prepared materials are stored and labelled as appropriate
P16 effectively avoid contamination of all mixing and handling equipment and preparation area
P17 correctly add the materials to product
P18 communicate all relevant information to the appropriate people
P19 work safely in accordance with operational requirements
