Control the transfer of bulk liquid products
Overview
This standard covers the competences you need to control the transfer of bulk liquid products
You will be required to demonstrate that you can control and transfer the product, connecting and disconnecting the transfer system in accordance with authorised procedures.
During this work you must take account of the relevant operational requirements and safe working practices AS THEY APPLY TO YOU.
The activity is likely to be undertaken by someone in petrochemical work setting, including individuals working in refineries, chemical plants and tank storage.
Performance criteria
You must be able to:
P1 confirm appropriate authority to proceed
P2 ensure that transfer pipeline system is correctly set up
P3 correctly carry out control actions
P4 effectively maintain the product flow rate and nature of the product throughout the movement
P5 confirm that the required quantities have been
received
P6 use safe lifting and moving techniques
P7 select hoses which are fit for purpose
P8 correctly make all connections
P9 make all necessary checks before disconnection
P10 safely and promptly relieve excess pressure
P11 ensure that flanges are correctly isolated and or blanked off as appropriate
P12 communicate all relevant information to the appropriate people
P13 work safely in accordance with operational requirements
