Plan, allocate resources and coordinate work

URN: CMIML601
Business Sectors (Suites): Pan-sector Management and Leadership 2026
Developed by: CMI
Approved: 2026

Overview

This standard is about planning, allocating resources and coordinating work to support effective delivery. You determine the work required, gather and analyse relevant information and develop realistic plans that align with organisational priorities. You identify the people, skills and resources needed, including colleagues, contractors, temporary staff and volunteers, and allocate them
proportionately. You coordinate activities, communicate clearly, and support shared understanding of plans, roles and responsibilities. You monitor progress, evaluate risks, respond to concerns, escalate issues when required and adapt plans when conditions change. You apply relevant leadership and management theories to strengthen planning, resource allocation and coordination.

This standard applies to managers and leaders at all levels across all sectors.
