Overview

This standard is about controlling entry to venues through the use of ticketing technology. This will include ensuring that those tickets presented are both genuine and valid for the correct date and time.
 
You will be required to have an understanding of the key features of genuine tickets and the procedures you should follow should a fraudulent or invalid ticket be presented for entry to the venue. 

In the context of this standard, "Access" includes the requirements of D/deaf, deafened, hard of hearing, blind and partially sighted people as well as those who have a temporary or permanent disability or impairment. Types of information required may vary for different types of venues and include (but are not limited to) assisted performances, large print or audio guides and wheelchair access


Performance criteria

You must be able to:

P1 contribute to the implementation of the organisation's security policy for the venue and retrieve the relevant information regarding access control 

P2 identify the security features of genuine tickets for the venue or event including any known third party tickets 

P3 follow organisational procedures if a ticket or concession appears to be invalid or fraudulent

P4 advise customers who present fraudulent tickets about how to avoid issues in the future 

P5 operate any appropriate access control technologies 

P6 provide accurate information to customers in relation to any queries including those relating to Access 

P7 operate radio or tannoy equipment using any relevant codes or wavelength as required 

P8 locate any panic alarm buttons and have knowledge of when and how to use them 

9 refer problems which are outside your responsibility to relevant colleagues 

P10 report problems which occur with software or hardware following organisational procedures


Knowledge and Understanding

You need to know and understand:

K1 the organisational security policy for the venue 

K2 where to find relevant information regarding access control for the venue 

K3 legal and organisational requirements for access control 

K4 the manual procedure to follow where access control is not available or has a technical failure 

K5 the organisation's terms and conditions of sale and admission 

K6 the procedures that must be followed when checking customers’ tickets at a venue, including the use of access control equipment 

K7 organisational procedures for dealing with invalid or fraudulent tickets 

K8 how to avoid purchasing fraudulent tickets 

K9 current equality legislation and how this impacts upon your role and access to venues and events 

K10 how and where to access relevant information relating to Access 

K11 any CCTV operation in place and the legal and organisational policy for the use of CCTV 

K12 any codes or separate wavelength to use with radio or tannoy equipment in the case of an emergency 

K13 the limits of your own responsibility and when to refer customers to others
